Dr. Annette Mata
I chose dentistry as my career, because I felt compelled to help people with their smiles and oral health since I, myself, was a patient for so many years. I was diagnosed with a severe malocclusion, which required two sets of braces and orthognathic surgery to correct, and through this experience I developed a deep compassion for patients’ feelings and I also genuinely relate to their experiences. My primary concern when treating patients is to provide tender care while helping them improve their oral health. My philosophy is to create a positive, caring atmosphere for both my patients and the dental staff. And I believe in treating patients like family, with the same gentleness and compassion. Furthermore, I find it very rewarding and fulfilling to change someone’s life by giving them the beautiful smile they desire and giving them their confidence back. So they can smile again; It’s a win-win!
Community: In the past, I have donated dentistry and efforts to community programs like “Dress for Success” and the CAN Academy for pregnant teens and their families. It was very rewarding to help these young women and their children who are trying to get back on their feet. And they sincerely appreciated our generosity and compassion! In the future, I’m looking forward to participating in dental mission trips to under-served populations in foreign countries.

I have two grown children, girls and two granddaughters. My mom, who is 88 years young, lives with me. I enjoy the medical field and its ever-changing dynamics. My family has been part of the medical field on the manufacturing and sales side along with nursing. In my early years I longed to be a CPA however, this avenue turned out to be the better plan for me.

I started working in a Dental Laboratory back in 2010.
My passion for Dentistry grew there and decided to pursue a career in Dentistry. I got certified from UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. Helping patients smile again and
providing them the highest quality of care that they deserve is my number one goal everyday.
When not at work I am found outdoors, biking, swimming, photographing anything that has to do with mother nature or making memories with my family. We love going to church and enjoy watching our son grow in height, wisdom and love. Spending family time is one of my main priorities.
